MY STORY

I recently graduated from James Cook University, Townsville with a Bachelors degree in Information Technology majoring in Game Design and Development. I have a great passion for games and more importantly making games and that is one of the reason I enrolled myself in this course. There are not many universities that focus on both designing and programming and I wanted one which would help me in both aspects.

Once I graduated high school, I went to State University of New York to study Computer Science, even though I had to drop out in my final year due to some unfortunate circumstances, I realised that programming is not my forte, I mean I can read and understand code but I don’t want to be a hardcore programmer and so after all the mishap I decided not to go back to engineering again and instead I tried my hands at designing. I did a diploma in designing and got an opportunity to work with a design firm as a design head, but since it was an interior design firm my work mostly was to create 3D models for residential and commercial projects, from designing rooms, offices to furnitures.

I worked at that firm for about 2 years and then it hit me, I thought to myself, I’m not just a designer, I have a good knowledge of programming languages and I have been working as a designer for quite some time. Now is the time to bring those two skills together and work on something better and that is how I got into making games and decided to go back and finish my education in Game Design and Development.
